welcome to subgrav.com, the home of the music project subliminal gravity. the project began in 1994 at the height of the techno/rave craze in the united states, when 'croc.shop' keyboardist and composer v.markus decided to create music that stood apart from the electro-industrial sounds of his main musical focus.
subgrav rose from the embers of 'burning kafka', an earlier project that borrowed as heavily from the heady manc baggy scene of the 'happy mondays' as it did from the dark sounds of 'frontline assembly'. the short lived project saw only one obscure release on cassette, as well as a short film done entirely using a fisher price camera.
the name 'subliminal gravity' was borrowed from an idea by 'croc.shop' frontman mick hale, followed quickly by the name of the first album, taken this time from a small piece of paper - a torn partial article - with the words 'no high ambient tripping'. although the phrase belongs to telephony, the sentiment echoed the project's desire to keep a dance floor moving and distance itself from the emerging ambient/chill scene.
the album 'no high ambient tripping' was not released until 2000, through the online site mp3.com, now sadly defunkt. although not heavily marketed, the cd sold its fair share of copies. individual tracks that found themselves onto the uk's vitaminic.com charted on occasion for being popular downloads.
the future of 'subliminal gravity' is up for grabs. a new album is in the works, with several tracks already ready to roll. hear a sample of the latest releases on the music page.

please visit the words section for a link to the subgrav blog. this blog is slightly different, as it does less to discuss music, and more about current events. in an election year that fails to defy logic, with various special interests groups taking care of keeping the campaigns extra dirty and protesters on every corner hurling rhetoric and hate rather than positive visions for the future of america, it will certainly be an interesting election. subgrav's blog will, hopefully, get you to think about issues from a slightly different, less emotional perspective. it may even get you to think about the candidate you may want to vote for, and how to make that decision based on something other than distortions, lies, emotion, and irrelevent events from 30+ years ago. then please go vote!

so I am in the process of trying this new snocap system of selling digital music. iTunes is still very much a plan... i just need to be less lazy and actually create the discs that they need to upload tracks from.
please check snocap out (on the music page), and try them out. the tracks should be hi-q mp3s at the now familiar price of 99¢ each.
